Karl Alzner Plays 500th Game
(Caps Outsider)
Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner played his 500th career regular season NHL game Friday, but that actually pales in comparison to the fact that it was his franchise-leading 449th consecutive game. Every time Alzner steps on the ice, he sets a new Capitals record.
Alzner set the initial team record back in January when he played in his 423rd consecutive game. The accomplishment came later than scheduled, however, due to the snow cancelling two games.
Congratulations, Alzner, on your 500th career game, but so long as your consecutive game streak is intact, that’s the far more impressive feat.
Congratulations to @KarlAlzner for playing in his 500th NHL/Capitals game tonight! #CapsDevils #RockTheRed pic.twitter.com/n8WwncS6K0
