For the Caps, It Shouldn’t Hurt So Bad, But It Does
The Caps had the Panthers beat three games in a row, but...
(Caps Outsider)
Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his 30th goal of the season Sunday, becoming only the third player in NHL history to reach the 30-goal plateau in 11 consecutive seasons. Former Cap Mike Gartner (15) and the Great One, Wayne Gretzky (13) are the others.
Let’s also note that Ovechkin reached 30 goals during a lockout-shortened season, where he only had 48 games to reach that number (he finished with 32).
His second-period goal tied the score at 1-1. Hit was his 505th career goal.
