Bobbleheads

Introducing Fourth Line Bobbleheads

Since the offseason didn’t have much bobblehead activity, we at Capitals Outsider had a lot of time on our hands, which we weren’t going to let go to waste. So, we decided to share our wealth of  knowledge by collecting and recording information on hockey bobblehead giveaways throughout North America.

We then embarked on the daunting task of collecting all this information, and now, we present to you, Fourth Line Bobbleheads, the first and only database of hockey bobblehead giveaways.

This is  an up-to-date hockey bobblehead database, which keeps track of all stadium giveaway (SGA) bobbleheads, which are bobbleheads given away at a team’s home game.

This doesn’t include all the Blood Drive and Kids Club bobbleheads that we as Caps fans have grown to love and collect, but there are still plenty of bobbleheads to keep track of. After this year, there will be more than 300 bobblehead nights in the NHL alone, and that doesn’t include the hundreds of other bobbleheads throughout the minor leagues.

What makes this site even more intriguing is that by the end of this season we hope to have all of the AHL and ECHL bobbleheads included. But we don’t plan on stopping there. Our goal is to bring you every single bobblehead that has every been handed out at hockey games everywhere in the world. We will include, along with the three most well known North American Leagues, the old CHL, OHL, WHL, QMJHL, SPHL, WCHL, IHL, OHL, USHL, NAHL, and any other hockey league we can find that has given away a bobble or two throughout the years.

So now that you know our end goal, let’s show you what we’ve got so far. The biggest features on this site will be the easy search database, the player profile pages, and the monthly reviews.

Easy Search Database

Database

No bobblehead site is complete without a comprehensive database that lists every bobblehead. The database has five major columns including the league, the team, the player, the date released, and the approximate number released. Each column has a sort feature that allows you to alphabetize the bobbles or see the newest ones added to the list. There is also a search feature which searches the second you begin typing in a name. Finally, the best part of the comprehensive database is that every single bobblehead listed is linked directly to the player profile page.

Player Profile Page

Player Profile

The first thing you’ll notice is a picture of the bobblehead. We try to find the best pictures of these, however some of them are hard to find. Next to the picture is the date released and number given away, plus an eBay tab. Finally, we have the game night stats section on the right which brings you accurate stats, taken from ESPN.com, of the player on the night of the giveaway. Beneath that are the source links to our information.

Monthly Reviews

October

The blog portion of this site will be dedicated to bringing you up-to-date information on the upcoming bobblehead nights for each month of each league’s season. This is still somewhat of a work in progress. We will get info on each upcoming bobblehead night such as who it’s for, who it’s against, and if the player has ever been made into a bobblehead before, plus photos.

As you can tell, this is a very big work in progress but we want to have it done for you fans by the beginning of the NHL season. Also if anybody enjoys collecting bobbleheads and attending the giveaways, or you know somebody who does, and you would like to give it a go at blogging, then be our guest. We would love to have a blogger for each team and give us a hands-on review of not only the bobblehead but the night itself. Until then, we’ll keep working away and we hope to see this grow into something big. Spread the word, Caps fans, Fourth Line Bobbleheads is the next big thing!
