Reading Royals PLAYED in their St. Paddy’s Day Jerseys
I’m all for specialty jerseys in general, even on St. Patrick’s Day weekend. On Sunday, the Washington Capitals sported their annual green jerseys, but only for warm-ups. Then they were auctioned off with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Anacostia Watershed Society.
On Saturday, the Reading Royals sported their annual St. Hat Trick’s Day jerseys, but actually wore them in the game. I’m unclear why the Capitals couldn’t – there could be a rule about that – but there’s something to be said for bidding on a game-used specialty jersey instead of a one-time-used practice jersey that only once got ten minutes’ worth of athlete stink on it.
Oh, and the Royals defeated the Elmira Jackals, 4-0.
