I’m all for specialty jerseys in general, even on St. Patrick’s Day weekend. On Sunday, the Washington Capitals sported their annual green jerseys, but only for warm-ups. On Saturday, the Reading Royals sported their annual St. Hat Trick’s Day  jerseys, but actually wore them in the game. I’m unclear why the Capitals couldn’t – there could be a rule about that – but there’s something to be said for bidding on a game-used specialty jersey instead of a one-time-used practice jersey that only once got ten minutes’ worth of athlete stink on it.

Oh, and the Royals  defeated the Elmira Jackals, 4-0.
