Caps Fall to Coyotes, 5-2

At least Sonny Milano scored. (Caps Outsider)

After beating the Flyers 5-2 on Friday, the Capitals had their second home game in three days, but this game had the opposite result as Washington fell to the Arizona Coyotes by the same score of 5-2.

In a game full of penalties, both of the Caps’ goals came on the power play, as Sonny Milano scored off a nice pass from Alex Ovechkin, while Anthony Mantha fired a one-timer into the net ten seconds into the third period.

Ovechkin’s assist on the Milano goal now puts him two points shy of passing Paul Coffey (1,531) for the 15th-most points in NHL history.

Down 4-2 late in the contest, Washington attempted to rally but couldn’t score again, as the Coyotes scored a late empty-net goal.

With the loss, the Capitals now sit at 28-23-9 with 65 points and in fifth place in the Metropolitan Division.
