Goodies! Caps Release Promotional Schedule

Hockey simply isn’t enough to get fans to come to games. They need tchotchkes and other incentives. (Caps Outsider)

Fans will chime in with the familiar chant “We want wings!” at the Verizon Center this season as Glory Days Grill returns with one of the favorite promotions at Caps’ home games. When the Caps score five or more goals, fans can bring their ticket stub to participating Glory Days Grill locations and receive a free order of wings with a dine in purchase. In addition to the quest to entice fans to want wings and more wings, the Washington Capitals recently released their promotions schedule for the 2013-2014 season.

Other notable promotions include Hockey Fights Cancer Night which will be held on Saturday, October 19th (Caps vs. Blue Jackets). Hockey Fights Cancer is an initiative founded in December 1998 by the NHL and the National Hockey League Players’ Association to raise money and awareness of the fight against cancer. Fans can show their support by purchasing Hockey Fights Cancer merchandise at the game or at Shop.NHL.com or Shop.Canada.NHL.com. A percentage of the sales will be donated to the NHL’s charitable foundations toward Hockey Fights Cancer.

At the home game on November 5th (Caps vs. Islanders), fans will be treated to the much anticipated Troy Brouwer Bobblehead presented by Capital One Bank. This unique acquisition will be a great addition to all Caps fans’ collections. (See our bobblehead database!)

There will also be Kids Days on November 17th (Caps vs. Blues) and January 12th (Caps vs. Sabres). In keeping with the theme of targeting youth, Hockey is For Everyone will be held on February 8th (Caps vs. Devils). Hockey is for Everyone (HIFE) is the NHL’s official youth development program. HIFE supports non-profit youth hockey across North America.

This year April 13th (Caps vs. Lightning) will be Fan Appreciation Night including a cooler giveaway presented by Verizon.
More promotions include a food drive sponsored by NBC 4, a toy drive presented by GEICO, jersey auctions, singles get-togethers, assorted giveaways and Military Night to round out this year’s promotions schedule. Fans can view the entire promotions schedule here.

Looks like it’s going to a great year to attend a Caps game!
