Caps Are Ready to Play Meaningful Games

With a 4-0-3 record this preseason, the Caps have polished away the summer rust and proven they’re ready to get the regular season started.

“We have one more game in Chicago, and then we will be ready, I think,” Mikhail Grabovski said after Friday’s 6-3 win against the Flyers. Without Captain Alex Ovechkin, who will be in carrying the Olympic torch for Russian in Greece this weekend, the Caps will wrap up the preseason at United Center on Saturday. They’re first regular season game is Tuesday, also against Chicago, where the Blackhawks will raise their Stanley Cup banner.

There were five more fights in Friday’s game against the Flyers, giving the Caps 17 total this preseason. Last year, the Capitals had 16 fights in 48 games.
