Ovechkin Is Captain, Fans With ‘A’ Upset

No big surprise, Alex Ovechkin came out for warm-ups Tuesday with a ‘C’ on his jersey as he was named the 14th captain in Washington’s history. The two-time league MVP will likely remain captain for the remainder of his contract, which will last through the decade. Former Capitals captain Jeff Halpern, now of the Tampa Bay Lightning, had this to say: “He’s the best player in the world and he’s the face of the franchise. Plus he’s a great teammate. The Caps organization should feel proud to name him captain.”

Some fans may be disappointed to hear that if they have the Ovechkin jersey with the ‘A’ on it, the folks at Verizon Center won’t be able to take it off and replace it with a ‘C.’ However, fans who have a blank Ovechkin jersey can get the ‘C’ ironed on for $10 at the booth outside section 104.
