Capitals Debut 3rd Jersey

The new Washington Capitals’ third jerseys made their on-ice debut tonight and they looked spectacular. We had to borrow the image above from the NHL to make sure we displayed the new sweater in its full glory. Long time fans of the team (like us) will no doubt recognize the look, making its return to the team for the first time since 1995. Check out Dino Cicarelli sporting the classic Caps color combo in the star-studded image below:

This is the jersey style we had anticipated for the Winter Classic last year, but we’re over that disappointment now, and glad to finally have it in the rotation. We’re especially happy to see the jersey accompanied by the red helmets and blue pants. All is right with the world again. Here is a view of the back, modeled by Andre Burakovsky, who incidentally was born the same year the Capitals last wore this kit, 20 years ago.

To be honest, we’d love to see this new third jersey replace the current jersey and become the new default at home. It’s that strong, and it’s so great to have it back at long last. We’ll have plenty more opportunities to enjoy it for the rest of the season, with 14 more times already planned on the promotion schedule. The retro style is now 1-0 and if it continues to perform well for the team, we’ll hopefully see it worn in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Check out some of our quick photos of the new unis on display during the second period :
