Rest in Peace, Honest Abe

This is not a thing anymore.

Last year, the Washington Capitals gave out the ‘Honest Abe’ award after games to the player who put in the most ‘honest’ effort.

“We have a new thing,” Jason Chimera said after the Caps’ 5-3 victory against New Jersey. “It’s a secret. Keep it in the locker room.”

Caps PR confirmed. The new award, which was once a ‘hard hat of the game’ given out for the same purpose, is now a secret.

Rest in peace, Honest Abe.

Here’s a list of everyone who won it last year.
