What’s Behind Capitals’ Lincoln Playoff Calendar?

The Capitals unveiled a special Abraham Lincoln calendar of sorts after the game this evening. Similar to an advent calendar, one square is revealed after each victory. Not coincidentally, there are 16 squares behind Lincoln’s head to unveil the full picture, corresponding to the 16 playoff victories needed to win Lord Stanley’s Cup. Jason Chimera peeled back the first square after tonight’s victory to reveal a light blue tile. So now we’re wondering, just like the Caps players, what’s behind Abe’s head? We came up with a few theories, but we’d love to hear your ideas in the comments below…

Due to the light blue revealed under the first square,

the Lincoln Memorial seems logical… but boring.

The Stanley Cup seems most logical, but also predictable.

Maybe it’s Abe Lincoln on the back of a Grizzly Bear holding an assault rifle. That would be totally badass, and not predictable at all.

…or perhaps Abe Lincoln as a Vampire Hunter?

Then we remembered where we had seen something like this before,

the classic baseball film, Major League.

….so maybe Capitals’ owner Ted Leonsis is behind Abraham Lincoln,

just like in Major League. Except for one problem…

In Major League, the owner is an exotic dancer, and after each victory they remove part of her clothing. Even though Ted has lost a bunch of weight, we highly doubt he provided a nude photo of himself to the coaching staff for inspirational purposes.

Maybe a racy photo of Julianne Hough would fill the bill, providing enough inspiration, and plenty of good-natured ribbing for Brooks Laich.

But alas, we’re left with only one obvious conclusion.

Underneath the Capitals Playoff Calendar must be a nude photo of…
