Wizards’ Yi Meets Caps
Washington Wizards power forward Yi Jianlian attended Monday’s game, sitting with Ted Leonsis to witness the Capitals’ 3-2 overtime victory against the Ottawa Senators. Leonsis brought Yi to the locker room after the game. The 7-footer from China towered over everyone as he was introduced to several Capitals, including player of the game Eric Fehr. “We’re just bring him around to say hi, making him feel welcome into the city. It’s his first hockey game,” Leonsis said. Yi said he enjoyed the game. No word on whether Michal Neuvirth asked him to get out of his locker space. Twitter: @CapsOutsider, [...]
Praise? Little for Fehr
It was difficult to realize that Eric Fehr earned the game’s no. 1 star during Monday’s post game. His goal and assist during regulation seemed to go unnoticed by the media after Alex Ovechkin scored the game-winner in overtime to give the Caps a 3-2 win against Ottawa. As the locker room opened up to the media, Fehr sat by himself, removing his gear. Reporters went to Mike Green, Ovechkin and others. Ted Leonsis stopped by, high-fived him, and introduced him to the Wizards’ Yi Jianlian, who attended his first hockey game. Fehr then signed an autograph for a young [...]
Brett Leonhardt’s New Role: Team DJ
We’ve seen him shoot video, update the Caps’ website, do live pregame analysis, and most memorably we’ve seen him sit on the bench as backup goaltender, but Brett Leonhardt as of late has been deejaying the warm-ups before games at Verizon Center. Which makes us wonder… if Leonhardt’s recent tasks are a part of Ted Leonsis’s definition of ‘every job in the building’ as he wrote in a blog post in July, might we see Uncle Ted spin some records, shoot some video, or perform other Leonhardt duties? Okay, maybe that was a bad question. Let’s just sit back and [...]
2010-11 Caps Schedule Magnet

Saturday’s Fights
A 7-2 victory? We expected that. But we didn’t expect five fights, all in the third period. D.J. King, who was brought in precisely for these type of situations, was a healthy scratch. Here’s what happened: David Clarkson vs. Jason Chimera 4:03 into the 3rd This fight wasn’t that big of a surprise. Two guys who can drop the gloves square off.
CSN Adds Virtual Advertising
Those of you watching the home opener for the Capitals from your own home this evening may have noticed an annoying development behind the goaltender. Comcast Sports Net has apparently begun selling virtual advertising on the glass behind each goal. The ads are only visible from the main camera angle, and they are similar to what you’ve seen behind the plate in baseball in recent seasons. We took a few shots of the ads (after the jump), but anyone who saw the game was sure to notice them. The one thing I find most annoying is that they move. If [...]
