It’s not uncommon in sports to hear about an inspirational story about a player with a disability to overcome great odds and accomplish something in the sport. After Alex Ovechkin put up a jaw-dropping 528 shots on goal two years ago, few would have thought that he would’ve taken a career-low 368 last season while maintaining a better scoring pace than the previous season. Many Capitals bloggers didn’t let this year’s summer vacation get in the way of publishing Caps-centric content for this hockey-loving city. But summer, relatively speaking, is a slow time for hockey news. So what did we do? Plenty. Let’s recap.
