Stanley Cup Gets Too Close to Caps Fans

by News

While Capitals fans are getting antsy about the playoffs, Lord Stanley’s Cup found its way to Maryland on Thursday, at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel. It came to town as part of the USA Disabled Hockey festivities and has no plans to travel to either of the remaining games at Verizon Center.

Of course, with the cup in town at one of the largest hockey rinks in the state, there will likely be many Caps fans showing up to get their photo with it, now through Friday at 4 p.m.

There is no way this can be a good thing. With the Capitals being the runaway favorites to take the championship, fans should not show up to drool over this trophy. If you’re a true fan, you will stay away! Don’t jinx it! There will be plenty of time to pose for photos once the Caps bring it home!

FYI - I was up there today and there was a Comcast SportsNet team taking video footage. They specifically asked all Caps fans wearing red to get together for a group shot around it yelling "Let's go Caps!!" So, look for that footage somewhere and blame them for any bad juju.

I know the guy who secured the Cup that works for USA Hockey. He's a Pens fan!
