Another 100 for Ovie
One hundred points these days means a lot, and Alex Ovechkin getting it for the fourth time in five years is quite remarkable. But it’s business as usual for Ovie and something we’ve come to expect. However, something about his stats this year still seems… off. While missing ten games certainly contributes to that, there still seems to be something odd going on this year. Let’s look: With 46 goals, he’s equaled his career low. If he would’ve got, say, five more had he played in those ten games, and three more in the next few, he’d be at 54 [...]

Capitals’ Music of Choice: Black Eyed Peas?
Multiple times this season, particularly after wins, the music playing over the Bose speakers in the Capitals locker room is the Black Eyed Peas’ “Meet Me Half Way.” The music is turned off once the press enters and the interviews begin, but if we’ve heard anything lately, it’s that song. But that’s no reason to disrespect the team – it’s likely that’s just a favorite of some of the younger guys, like Ovie, because I can’t exactly envision Mike Knuble saying, “Put on the Black Eyed Peas!” So there you have it. Our beloved Capitals dig that kind of music.
Happy Birthday, Dave Steckel and Tyler Sloan!
Capitals’ David Steckel, of Westbend, Wisconsin, is 28. Despite being drafted 30th overall by Los Angeles in 2001, Steckel has played his entire career in Washington. Also, defenseman Tyler Sloan is 29. Sloan, of Calgary, Alberta was undrafted and has played in the minor leagues, including Hershey, since 2000, until getting called up by the Capitals last season.
