On Sunday, Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Entertainment Gang and U.S. Figure Skating hosted Legacy on Ice at Capita One arena. The event was billed as “a live figure skating tribute … to support the families and loved ones affected by the tragic aviation incident at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on January 29, 2025.”
It exceeded its billing as it was an emotional day, highlighting local, National and World Class skaters, hosted by legends of figure skating, all in front of a supportive packed stadium and streamed live on Peacock. While the focus was on the skaters, the event also paid tribute to all those on flight 5243, the military aircraft, and the first responders who responded to the accident.
