Capitals Lineup Adjustments and Injury Update Ahead of Rangers Game

Tonight, the Capitals will take on the New York Rangers at home at 7:30pm.

After dropping the last game 3-0 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Capitals have made a minor adjustment to the lineup. They’ve swapped Mike Sgarbossa (recalled from Hershey this week) in place of Hendrix Lapierre (likely to be a healthy scratch). Lapierre is the only player on the third line who hasn’t registered a point yet this season (Vrána 1g 1a, Mangiapane 2g 1a).

The line & D-pairs now look like this:

Protas-Strome-Ovechkin

McMichael-Dubois-Wilson

Vrana-Sgarbossa-Mangiapane

Duhaime-Dowd-Raddysh

Chychrun-Carlson

Fehervary-McIlrath

Sandin-TvR

Things are a bit more unclear on the goalie side. Carbery did not commit to a goalie after practice Monday. So far, Lindgren and Thompson have alternated starts throughout the season. If that continues tonight, Thompson would be the starter. Last season, Thompson faced the Rangers once and won, allowing only 1 goal on 30 shots (.967 sv%). Lindgren had more experience last season with the Rangers, facing them 3 in the regular season (2-1-0, .955 sv% including one 31-save shutout) and 4 times in the playoffs (0-4-0, .864 sv%).
