Stingrays Week 8 Recap: So Much Winning
The South Carolina Stingrays won all four games this week by combined scores of 19-6. They did not allow more than two goals in any game this past week.
The week started with a 8-2 trouncing over instate rival Greenville Samp Rabbits on Tuesday. In the win, Caps prospect Kris Bindulis recorded his first professional points. Patrick Gaul, Patrick Megannety and Joe Devin all had three points in the win with Parker Milner recording 28 saves.
Thursday, the Stingrays traveled to Greenville and won 4-2. After falling behind early in the game, the Rays scored four straight in route to the win. Taylor Cammarata and Paul Geiger each had two point nights. Milner got the win once again.
Saturday started a home-and-home with the Atlanta Gladiators. Dylan Margonari scored twice while Cammarata had another two points with two assists in the contest helping the Rays to a win by a score of 3-1. This was also the Teddy Bear Toss game for the Rays.
Sunday, the Rays used a 31 save performance from Jeff Jakaitis in route to a 4-1 win over the Gladiators. Gaul had three points with a goal and two assists and defenseman Joey Leach had a goal and an assist in the contest.
Standings: Going 4-0 in the week helped the Stingrays solidify second place in the division with 32 points, seven back from league leading Florida Everblades and four ahead of Greenville. The Rays have a game in hand over Florida and two over Greenville.
Week ahead: The Stingrays have a chance to gain ground on Florida as they play them in all three games this week. All games are in Florida. Wednesday and Friday games are at 7:30 and Saturday at 7.
