Washington Capitals Stanley Cup Hero Evgeny Kuznetsov is no longer with the team. One of the team’s most talented centers ever was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, shortly after he cleared waivers and joined the Hershey Bears after a stint in the players’ assistance program.
In return, the Caps are getting a 2025 third-round pick, but also retaining 50 percent of Kuznetsov’s salary, which is for one more year at a $7.8 M AAV. In other words, the Caps gave him away.
We here at Caps Outsider choose to focus on all of the joy that Kuzy brought us over the years. While we’re sad to see it come to an end, we’re aware that this is how this business works, and will always remember him.
