Dylan Strome Sets New Career High in Goals

Center Dylan Strome, in his first year with the Caps, tied and broke his career high in goals with 23 as the Washington Capitals defeated the New York Islanders, 5-2.

Strome, acquired during the offseason as a free agent after the Chicago Blackhawks did not give the former No. 3 overall pick a qualifying offer, has already signed a five-year, $25M extension with Washington.

The tally marked the fourth game in a row where Strome scored and fourth game in succession where he scored the Capitals opening goal. The four-game goal streak is the longest of his career.

The opening tally came just 36 seconds into the game and marked the third straight game where Strome scored the game-opening goal.

Strome would put icing on the cake tallying an empty netter to help seal the victory to give him the new career high, passing the 22 he scored last season in Chicago.

Strome’s pair of goals gives him 63 points on the year, another career high. The multi-point effort gave him 17 of those on the year, second on the team behind only Alex Ovechkin’s 20.
