Hendrix Lapierre Scores in First NHL Game

Caps rookie Hendrix Lapierre, playing in his first NHL game at the age of 19, scored against the Rangers Wednesday, becoming the 16th player in Caps history to score his first goal in his first career game.

The goal came at 13:02 of the second period, assisted by T.J. Oshie and Conor Sheary, giving the Caps a 3-0 lead.  After the goal, Oshie tossed his gloves and lifted up Lapierre.

Lapierre said he didn’t actually see the puck go in the net, thinking it hit the goalie.

For warmups, the Caps let him skate the new-guy lap, as he stepped on the ice for warmups and took a lap by himself before the other players joined him.
