(Caps Outsider)
Caps defenseman Brenden Dillon, who doesn’t normally score goals, put one in the net from the far right blue line on Thursday, giving Washington a 4-1 lead against Buffalo, before Washington won, 6-4.
It was his first goal since Dec. 12, 2019, when he was with the San Jose Sharks, as he broke a 35-game scoreless drought. The 30-year-old stay-at-home defenseman has 23 career goals.
The goal, which was also Dillon’s first point as a Cap, came in his 11th game with the team. Dillon is the 386th Caps player to score at least one goal for the franchise.
Conor Sheary was credited an assist on the play, his first point as a Capital, as was Lars Eller.
Dillon also fought Jake McCabe, who got himself a Gordie Howe hat-trick, late in the game.
