Caps Global Fan Series (Zane Rego- Delaware USA)

The modern day Capitals have given young fans plenty to cheer about recently and for 20 year old Zane Rego, following the Caps has been all he has known from a young age. Originally growing up in the DC area and now residing in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Zane has followed DC sports and the Capitals in particular ever since he can remember.

“Growing up watching the ‘American Hero’ TJ Oshie, or seeing Tom Wilson clobber someone” have been moments that have stood out for Zane in his journey following the Capitals to the ultimate success in 2018 along with all the highs and lows in between. Zane proudly sports an impressive Tom Wilson tattoo, further cementing his Capitals dedication!

Of course, Alex Ovechkin has been an icon of the modern day Capitals team. “Following Ovechkin’s journey, as he became a better leader and more disciplined player has been special” Zane said.

In 2018, at age 19, Zane witnessed first hand what all hockey fans long for, a Stanley Cup victory in his home town. Zane was present, along with what seemed like most of the population of DC, outside Capital One arena as the Capitals claimed Lord Stanley. “People of all different races, genders and ages were piled on top of each other in the streets of DC” he said. “We were all there to support our beloved team as they claimed the Stanley Cup” he continued.

For Zane and many young Capitals fans, the past decade has been one to rember and he hopes for continued success for his beloved team in the near future!
