4th Line Power! Brendan Leipsic Scores First Goal as a Cap

(Caps Outsider)

Brendan Leipsic didn’t come to Washington with much fanfare, but he’s been a steady presence on the Caps’ fourth line this season, never a healthy scratch and always working hard. So it was hard to believe that it took him 15 games to score his first goal for the team.

“It feels good. Got a lot of chances. It’s always kinda in the back of your mind to get that first one, so it feels good.”

Leipsic scored the fourth goal of the game. “Boyder [Travis Boyd] just made a great play. I was kinda just trying to find a quiet area. He dipsied a couple of guys, made a great play back door, and it was tough to miss that one.”

The fourth line, which also included Travis Boyd (two assists) and Garnet Hathaway, has been a huge bright spot for the Caps. “They were excellent,” Coach Todd Reirden said. “I really liked a lot of things from that line. the speed, the execution level.”

Leipsic also had an assists on Chandler Stephenson’s goal, and was named third star of the game, after Tom Wilson and Jakub Vrana.
