Happy One Year Anniversary, Boys, Girls and Babes

Posted June 7, 2019

‘Twas the night of Cupsmas

and all through the town

not a creature was stirring,

no car was around.

The jerseys were worn in the streets with care,

in hopes that Lord Stanley soon would soon be there.

The fans were nestled all cozy in seats,

while visions of winning they soon would greet

When out on F street arose such a clatter, we sprang from our seats as Vrana’s goal mattered.

The Knights off the skate of one of our own,

they tied the game and the whole city moaned.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear,

but two minutes of power play for the Caps to steer.

With a little blond Swede so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than Vrana, the Knights took aim,

After pushing and shoving, a leading goal came.

Goal Devante, then Eller!

The Caps took the lead!

A 4-3 score, was all that they’d need!

His rings — how they twinkled! His history — how merry! His rings had glory, but this is our story.

But I heard us cheer, ere before the steps were out of sight,

Happy Cupsmas to all, and to all a goodnight.
