Welcome Back, Philipp Grubauer
Philipp Grubauer returned to Washington this evening for the first time since being traded to the Colorado Avalanche during the off-season. Grubi played in 101 games for the Capitals over 6 seasons, with a record of 43-31-11. He is ranked #1 all-time for the Capitals with a .923 save percentage and 2.29 GAA. Grubauer briefly took over the starting role late in the season last year before giving way to Holtby for his triumphant Stanley Cup run. Still, Philipp played a critical role on the championship team and will forever be remembered for that in Washington.

Unfortunately Semyon Varlamov draws the start for Colorado this evening, and he is not as fondly remembered in Washington. Hopefully the Caps will dominate him early so he gets the hook. Check out some video of Grubauer before the game with the fans :
