November is Hockey Fights Cancer month, and one yearly tradition is for the Caps to wear lavender warmup jerseys. Afterward, they auction them off and donate the proceeds to Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and Flashes of Hope.
Nicklas Backstrom wore lavender skate blades, while other players had lavender tape on their stick.
