Andre Burakovsky (Caps Outsider)

The Capitals are off to western Canada, beginning a four-game road trip with a 9:30 game against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.

The Caps roster will look a little bit different than the one we saw on Saturday. Up front, Andre Burakovsky and T.J Oshie have switched spots on the Caps top two lines. In addition, Taylor Chorney will make his season debut at some point during this road trip. Don’t be surprised if it’s Wednesday night. Though Chorney’s role as the seventh defenseman is primarily to step in when an injury arises, Barry Trotz he doesn’t want players to be stale and will play someone to keep their mind in game shape.

At 5-1-0 for the first time in more than 20 years, the Oilers are not the bottom-dwellers of the NHL. They are coming off a 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets in the Heritage Classic. McDavid is atop the league scoring with nine points in six games.

In addition to shutting down the Oilers, look for the defense to contribute more offensively. So far the defense has 11 assists but zero goals.

In addition, in every game, excluding the 3-0 win over Colorado,  the Caps have not scored a power play goal and have allowed a power play goal. I would be surprised to see this trend continue.
