Capitals Fan Appreciation Day 2013

Today was Fan Appreciation Day in Washington, and the Capitals honored their tradition of giving the Fans the shirts off their backs. It’s always an interesting spectacle of surprised fans pulling numbers out of envelopes, and then posing for photos and handing their new favorite player a sharpie for an autograph. Meanwhile the players hang out across the ice from the line of fans, joking which each other about who will be picked last like a game of pick-up.

Fans lineup after the 2nd intermissions, so with an overtime game the tension in the hallway under the arena created an intense scene with fans checking their phones and trying to get the latest updates.

We were again on hand for the festivities, and put together this photo gallery. If you are one of the fans pictured and would like additional (or higher resolution) shots, just let us know in the comments below.

The final envelope was reserved for a member of the Caps Kids Club, who received a special (Xtra-Large) jersey from Slapshot!
