Happy Birthday Jason Chimera!
Winger/speed skater Jason Chimera is 33 today, and he’s already proven to be one of the few players who gets better with age. The Edmonton native had 20 goals and 39 points this season, both career highs. That, and he’s scored three goals in the playoffs so far, which leads the team along with Alex Ovechkin and Alex Semin.
Ever since Chimera came to Washington from Columbus in exchange for then-captain Chris Clark, he’s played with extreme determination and class, while adding a dash of speed that makes Mike Gartner look like Dale Hunter. Chimera is nothing short of a warrior that is destined to bring this team deep into the playoffs. The way he’s been playing lately, I won’t be surprised when it happens.
