Caps Links and Notes

Unlike last year against the Rangers, the press box was absolutely packed for Game 1 of the Caps/Canadiens series. Every seat in the box was taken and several journalists, even some who had assigned seats, watched the game on television in the press area in the bowels of the Verizon Center. They were all treated to goodies; plenty of popcorn, brownies, cookies, pretzel sticks, chips and salsa. Even Craig Laughlin got excited when he saw the spread.

Dan Steinberg of The Post got the story of the night, meeting up with a man – get this – dressed as TED LEONSIS! Just kidding Dan, we love ya. The Post isn’t missing a single angle of this series, offering some of the best content in years. Longtime professional bar-crawler Fritz Hahn covers the best places to watch a Caps game. washingtonpost.com put together a brilliant guide to how the Caps were built. And Gene Wang is hosting all the online chats you need to vent your frustrations about the game. Kudos to The Post for all their efforts, and don’t miss a great photo gallery by photo editor Steve Cook.

But of course, there’s other great content on the ‘net.

  • You know its Caps playoff hockey when…. (The Examiner)
  • Recap: Caps-Canadiens Game 1 (Japers’ Rink)
  • Pictures of hockey cakes. (Puck Daddy) We’re sure Greg Wyshynski baked them himself.

More to come as the journalists are finishing up their articles.
