Big Sports Day, and Another Full House

BORING! Let's watch hockey!

This could possibly be one of the busiest Mondays ever in the history of sports. Lets take a look at some of today’s events in their order of national importance :

  1. NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship
  2. Opening Day for Major League Baseball
  3. Tiger Woods Press Conference at The Masters
  4. President Obama throws out the first pitch
  5. Donovan Mcnabb traded to Washington Redskins
  6. NHL Hockey Games

So while any NHL Hockey game is facing some stiff national competition, the Capitals specifically are facing even stiffer local competition this evening. But the phone booth is full. Despite everything going on in the sports world today, for over 17,000 fans in Washington, the Capitals were the most important game in town. My guess is that it will stay that way for awhile. The Nationals could be eliminated from playoff contention before the Capitals are eliminated from the playoffs this year. The Capitals winning the President’s Trophy should be the biggest story on your local sports report this evening.
