Caps Outsider once again participated in the Leap Towards a Cure hockey tournament and community festival this past weekend at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel. Proceeds from the tournament go to pediatric oncology research at John’s Hopkins in Baltimore, via the Andrea Henderson Memorial Fund. In its 7th year, the tournament is played in memory of Andrea ‘Froggy’ Henderson, who was an art teacher at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. She was also the faculty sponsor of the school’s ice hockey team before passing away from cancer in 2009.

This year alone this festival has raised nearly $18,000. If you missed it, it’s not too late to make a donation.

Check out Leap Towards a Cure on Facebook, check out this year’s winners, and if you missed it, be sure to participate next year!
