Enthusiastic Caps’ fans came out Saturday morning for the Capitals Craze Pep Rally.  The event was held at Dunkin’ Donuts on Cordell Ave. in Bethesda.  Dunkin’ Donuts is the official donut partner of the Washington Capitals and the event celebrated the company’s partnership with the Caps.  The event also marked the return of the Capitals Craze Donut.  The delicious glazed donut is frosted with white icing and drizzled with the team’s colors, red and blue.  Fans raved about the tasty treats.

Amanda Cody, a middle school teacher, came all of the way from Frederick, MD to be a part of the rally and have a Capitals Craze donut.

“I just got into hockey when I moved here from Alabama,” said Cody.  “I went to my first Caps game in December 2014 and fell in love with the game.  I came today to support the Caps and the donuts are great.”

Five-year-old Gilleran of Bethesda, a Caps Kids Club member, came out with her dad and her brother to munch on a donut and support the Caps.  With a mouthful of a Capitals Craze donut she managed to critique the delectable pastry.

“I really like it,” said the mini Caps fan.

The Caps’ mascot, Slapshot, and representatives from the Red Rockers Spirit Squad were on hand for the festivities to pump up the crowd and help distribute prizes and giveaways.

“One of the most important parts of our job as Red Rockers is to interact with the fans,” said veteran Red Rocker Caity.  “Being at events like this helps us get to know the fans and it’s fun.”

“This is my first year as a Red Rocker so it’s all very interesting to me,” added Red Rocker Tori.  “It’s great to meet the fans and really get to know all aspects of being a Red Rocker and being a part of the Caps organization.”

Along with representatives from the Caps organization, there were also representatives from Dunkin’ Donuts, including the Cuppy their mascot.  Local radio station 97.1 WASH-FM on hand providing the music and handing out giveaways.  Among the folks from WASH-FM was popular, longtime Washington radio personality Chlli Amar.

“Dunkin’ Donuts is one of our clients.  We’re happy to be here to promote them and the station,” said Amar.

The Capitals Craze Pep Rally was a complete success.  Fans had a great time and a yummy breakfast.   With the Caps doing so well, how could anyone help but come out and cheer!
