Joining his teammates Troy Brouwer, team captain Alex Ovechkin sported pink laces Wednesday for Hockey Fights Cancer month. Brouwer had been doing it all month, but Ovi presumably started wearing them as the Capitals hosted their Hockey Fights Cancer benefit Wednesday by wearing purple jerseys during warm-ups (with Hendrix’s Purple Haze playing). The jerseys are being auctioned off with the proceeds going to… fight cancer.
Anyway, glad to see the captain following along with this, although Brouwer told Caps Outsider one of the reasons he was doing it was because ‘the NFL does it.’ We’ll forgive you for that one, Brouwer.
