Nathan Walker Looks Awesome

It’s a long shot for Nathan Walker to make the Washington Capitals’ roster, but in Tuesday’s preseason game against the Bruins in Baltimore, he didn’t hold back, assisting on Tom Wilson‘s goal, then springing himself for an chance and drawing a penalty shot. Though Walker missed on the shot, the move he attempted was far from routine, showing his eagerness and confidence that coaches tend to notice. Even the Comcast SportsNet announcers said multiple times that Walker looked to be the best player on the ice, and suggested that he should have a chance during the overtime shootout (he didn’t get one, despite eight rounds).

Walker is trying to become the first player from Australia in the NHL. And even if he doesn’t make it this year, there’s plenty of time for the 19-year-old. Judging by his effort on Tuesday, he one day will be.

More on Walker:

Here’s the move Walker tried during his penalty shot, though this is from the Youngstown Phantoms, and it worked.
