Alzner Deactivates Twitter Account

Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner deactivated his Twitter account recently after a series of negative tweets came his way, most of which happened Thursday, Dec. 6 while many Caps fans were watching the Bears and Admirals play at Verizon Center. It started with this:

 

Former Cap Wideman signed a 5-year, $26.25 deal with the Flames over the summer, and Alzner tagged TSN’s James Duthie to show him the quote, which is obviously in  response to the NHL labor negociations. Some folks weren’t too happy to see this, and responded with a series of nasty tweets. Here are some of the tamer ones:

 

Perhaps in the heat of the moment, Alzner responded to some of his detractors, and retweeted this:

Finally, Alzner sent one last tweet:

Despite the ugly situation, we here at Capitals Outsider are sorry to see Alzner off Twitter, and urge everyone to show respect while using social media.
