Name Your Five Favorite Caps Goalies

Do fans still have a soft spot for Semyon Varlamov? (Photo by Alena Schwarz)

If HockeyDB is correct, then 43 goalies saw action for the Capitals since their inaugural 1974–75 season. All but 11 of them played 10 regular season games or more (our randomly selected criteria for being listed here). Using the top 32 on the list (you’re welcome, Byron Dafoe), Capitals Outsider would like to put it to a vote to see which Caps goalies rise to the top.

We’re going to go out on a limb and say that Olaf Kolzig will win the popular vote, followed by Don Beaupre, and  guys who are still here – Braden Holtby and Michal Neuvirth. But as you look down the list, you may recall Jim Carey‘s Vezina-winning season, Cristobal Huet’s 13 games that salvaged 2007-8, and certainly others.
