Backstrom Jersey Owners Rejoice

There’s nothing more annoying for a Caps fan who buys a jersey only to see that player get traded or signed away. Note the most glaring in recent years:

I mean, what a waste. You drop $150 on a jersey, the player ends up sucking, then gets traded.

Though it’s possible, but unlikely, that Nicklas Backstrom can be traded, him signing a deal for the next ten years pretty much solidifies he’ll play the majority of his career in Washington. And after coming in fourth in scoring in his third year, and only being 22 years old, it’s likely that his best years are ahead. Therefore, the people who dropped money on his jersey will be getting good use of it until about 2020, if not longer. Congrats on the contract, Backie!
