Capitals defenseman Jeff Schultz, who is having a career year in the plus/minus category, is 24 today. Schultz, of Calgary, Alberta, was drafted 27th overall in 2004 by the Capitals. At plus-37, he leads all defenseman in the league in that category this season. Also, with 3 goals and 14 assists, he is one point away from matching a career high in total points.

The Incredible Ovechkin
via David Coelho of Kensington, MD :
Ovechkin Crushes Jagr
Alex Ovechkin just laid out Jaromir Jagr of the Czech Republic in their Olympic match-up. The hit led to a turnover, and a 2 on 1 break with Alex Semin setting up Evgeni Malkin for the game winner. The play is definitely the highlight of the Olympic Hockey Tournament so far, and featured a disappointing former Capital getting crushed by the new face of the franchise :

Maybe not as good as a couple of years ago when the Caps had to win the majority of their final games to make the playoffs, but with a long winning streak on the line it is certainly interesting (let’s [...]
Who’s Your Daddy Ovie?
From a Capitals fan on YouTube:
My tribute to the biased NBC coverage of the 2/7/2010 Capitals Penguins game. The Caps ran their streak to 14 straight wins on the back of an Alexander Ovechkin hat trick – proving that NOBODY is his daddy!
