South Carolina Stingrays Make Playoffs for 25th Time in 26 Seasons

With a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Gladiators on Sunday in Atlanta, the South Carolina Stingrays edged out the Gladiators for the last playoff spot in the South Division. It is the 25th time in the franchise’s 26 year history that they have made the postseason.

The Stingrays changed ownership in the spring and with head coach Ryan Warsofsky departing in the summer to take an assistant coaching job with AHL leading Charlotte, the team went with an outside hire in Spiros Anastas. The move paid off.

With the win coming in regulation, the Stingrays jumped the Jacksonville Ice Men and finished third in the South Division. The Stingrays will play the Orlando Solar Bears in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
