Capitals Are Going To The Stanley Cup Finals!!!

The Washington Capitals are going to the Stanley Cup!!!

The Capitals defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals 4-0.  This awarded them with the Prince of Wales Trophy for winning the Eastern Conference.  They are also awarded with a ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals where they will travel to play the Western champions, the Vegas Golden Knights.

This is the second time Washington has made the Stanley Cup finals, last time being in 1998 as the Detroit Redwings would go on to win the series 4-0 but we won’t talk about that.

The Stanley Cup Finals will be as follows:

(All start times are 8:00 PM EST)

Game 1: Monday May 28th in Las Vegas

Game 2: Wednesday, May 30th in Las Vegas

Game 3: Saturday, June 2nd in Washington

Game 4: Monday, June 4th in Washington

*Game 5: Thursday, June 7th in Las Vegas

*Game 6: Sunday, June 10th in Washington

*Game 7: Wednesday June 13th in Las Vegas

Vegas went 2-0-0 against Washington this season.

The first game on December 23rd, Washington would make a trip to Las Vegas and get shut out 3-0.  Marc-Andre Fleury would make 26 saves, earning his first shutout of the season.  Goals would come from Alex Tuch, Oscar Lingberg and William Karlsson.  All of the goals would be scored in the first period.

The second game on February 4th, Vegas would defeat Washington 4-3 in DC.  The Capitals had a 3-2 lead going into the third period, but Riley Smith would score his second goal of the game to tie it and Alex Tuch would score the game winner with 5:12 left in the game.

But that was regular season and these are totally different teams from what happened during the winter.  Each team is playing the best it has all season.
