Caps Recall Pheonix Copley With Holtby Ailing
(Cory Lyons/Caps Outsider)
The Washington Capitals announced Thursday that they have recalled goaltender Pheonix Copley from the Hershey Bears before tonight’s game against the Detroit Red Wings. Copley is not expected to start, but he is 0-1-0 in two NHL appearances.
Capitals star goaltender Braden Holtby is nursing an injury after he collided with Remi Elie of the Dallas Stars in the third period of Tuesday’s win. Holtby did finish the game. Capitals coach Barry Trotz had this to say after the morning skate in Detroit.
Is Braden Holtby hurt?
Trotz: "Yeah, he just tweaked something. We're just trying to make sure he's OK. He's doing fine. You saw, he was moving around fine and took the majority of the shots. Didn't want Stretch in the net."

In addition, the Capitals have re-assigned goaltender Adam Carlson from the ECHL’s Kansas City Mavericks to the Bears.
