No Time To Celebrate Win Over Canucks

(Caps Outsider)

After falling in regulation in consecutive games for the first time in over a season, the Caps rallied behind a two goal, one assist game from Marcus Johansson to beat the Vancouver Canucks, 5-2.

The Caps shook up the forward lines, and it worked, as they outplayed the Canucks the whole game.

The Caps’ woeful special teams were better tonight. The power play looked good on their fist power play resulting in a Johansson goal after TJ Oshie hit the post. The second power play, had little zone time as the Canucks played keep away. The Caps penalty kill was a perfect 3/3 with the help of stellar work from Philipp Grubauer in net. In addition, the Caps finally had a defenseman score a goal. If you picked Karl Allzner in your office pool, congrats.

The Caps have no time to celebrate as they travel to face the Calgary Flames in less than 24 hours. The Flames, who last played Friday, have won three in a row scoring eleven goals in that span. The caps will be facing former capital Troy Brouwer.

Only a few changes are expected for the Caps line up. Trotz did a good job of rolling all four to see lines as no forward played over 17 minutes. However do not be surprised if Daniel Winnik is back in the Caps lineup. On defense, we are expecting Taylor Chorney make his season debut. I would expect him to come in for Nate Schmidt who only played over 15 minutes. As for the other defenders, Trotz managed their ice time well as no body played over 24 minutes. Braden Holtby is expected to start in net.
