We’re still in the first half of Development Camp, which means drills and getting-to-know-you exercises as opposed to the later schedule of scrimmage!scrimmage!scrimmage with a brief break for skating assessment. With the drills comes a more relaxed atmosphere amongst the players, and it’s a sentiment that translates well to the captured image. Of course, this being hockey, there will always be degree of competition that never really goes away, resulting in a marvelous array of “thinking/concentrating” faces.
Before letting the photos speak for themselves, however, one quick note – Goaltender Brandon Anderson did not take part in today’s on-ice activities, due to an injury suffered during Monday’s session. Per the Caps, they’ll re-evaluate him on Wednesday to assess whether he’s recovered enough to get back on the ice.

Handle the puck more accurately…
And even make water feel more refreshing (Clarke Saunders demonstrates).
However, D-Camp isn’t all fun and games. Occasionally a defenseman (Connor Carrick) takes a header into a goaltender (Saunders).
To the surprise of many, Sergey Kostenko is one of the prospects attending this year. Despite rumours of a shift to the KHL, the Caps hold his rights and are treating him as they would any other un-signed prospect.
To wrap things off, here’s a glamour shot of the biggest name at this year’s camp – Tom Wilson.
