The Royals celebrate a win (M. Richter)

Tonight, the Reading Royals defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-1 and officially claimed the title of the ECHL’s Eastern Conference Champions.  The win closes out the series in just five games, the first three of which went into OT.

Important Info:

Ian O’Connor (Berry, Stevenson), Kirk MacDonald (Wellar, Stevenson – Shorthanded), and T.J. Syner (Tifu, Mitera) all scored in the series-winning victory.  Riley Gill stopped 25 of 26 shots during the regulation win.

Dan Eves (Aubin, Pelech) scored the lone goal for Cincinnati at the end of the second period, but by that point MacDonald’s game-winner was already on the books.

When & Where:

The Royals will face the Stockton Thunder in a best of seven series to determine the 2013 winner of the ECHL’s Kelly Cup.  The first two games will take place in Reading, next Saturday @ 7:05 and Sunday @ 4:05.
