Laich Bobblehead Sells for $114.51
A Brooks Laich bobblehead sold for $114.51, plus $8 in shipping, in an eBay auction by user blankenshinj. Not bad for an item that people got for donating blood. The question is now, how many people who gave blood back in October will now list their bobblehead on eBay in hopes of getting that same price? Another interesting item on eBay: A Miss Piggy Capitals pin. The price started at $5.55, but has no bids as of this writing.
Not Semin’s Best Game
While Alex Semin has had some incredible games this season, his performance in Saturday’s 5-4 loss wasn’t one to highlight when negotiating his next contract, despite the critical assist on Eric Fehr’s game-tying goal. “It wasn’t his best game,” Coach Bruce Boudreau said in the press conference. What, specifically, went wrong? This:
Praise for Carlson
Image via Caps in Pictures The box score might not show great numbers, but John Carlson earned praise from Coach Bruce Boudreau on the one year anniversary of his NHL debut in Saturday’s 5-4 overtime loss to Philadelphia. “He was playing to win. He was up the ice and he played hard. John Carlson is a great competitor and you could tell tonight he really wanted to win the game.” Despite being in the league a year already, Carlson is still considered a rookie because he played mostly in Hershey last season. On Saturday, Carlson played 29 shifts for 22:41 [...]
Happy One Year Anniversary, John Carlson
My how time flies while watching fan favorite John Carlson grow up. Still technically a rookie, it’s actually been a whole year since Carlson first suited up for the Capitals. Carlson, now 20, made his NHL debut against the Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 20, 2009. The Caps lost, 3-2, at home. Carlson skated 17:24, got a shot on goal, and registered five hits and a blocked shot.
If Chad Dukes Ranted on Friday’s Loss
Fortunately, most Caps fans know that Friday’s lackluster 5-0 loss to the Thrashers likely won’t sum up the season, the month, or even the week for the Capitals. But here’s how it would read if one particular Capitals fan took to the airwaves after the “Debacle in Atlanta.” The Washington Redskins Capitals owe us. The Washington Redskins Capitals owe me, and they owe everybody else that has ever taken crap from Cowboys Penguins fans, that has ever not jumped on the Patriots‘ Red Wings or the Steelers‘ Devils’ bandwagon, that has remained loyal in this melting pot, you owe us [...]
Ten Ways Beer League Hockey Is Harder Than the NHL
Those spoiled NHLers. They have things so easy. Never mind the high pay and luxury of being a professional athlete, these fellas don’t need permission from the wife to go play hockey, don’t have to worry about ‘who brings the beer,’ and only have to sit for five minutes after getting into a fist fight. See these and other ways that beer league hockey is more difficult than the NHL on our brother site, Gunaxin.com. Checking in With Hendricks’ Mustache
It almost seemed like a loss in the locker room after Wednesday’s 4-2 win against Buffalo because few players stuck around to talk about the game. Determined to speak to John Erskine about his team-leading Movember fundraising, Johnny was nowhere to be found. Instead I checked in with Matt Hendricks, mainly to see the progress on his ‘stache, and not necessarily for a cutting-edge interview.
