Colby Williams Suspended Three Games

Colby Williams has been suspended by the AHL for his hit on Lehigh Valley’s Danick Martel during Saturday’s contest.

The hit happened during the second period when Williams caught Martel off guard as he came out of his defensive zone.  The hit can be viewed here:

Martel suffered a broken jaw and has successful surgery.

Williams received a match penalty for the hit which caused him to miss the game on Sunday in a rematch against the Phantoms.  The additional games will include Wednesday against the Springfield Thunderbirds and the Outdoor Classic on Saturday against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

“Hershey Bears defenseman Colby Williams has been suspended for three (3) games as a consequence of an illegal check to the head of an opponent in a game at Lehigh Valley on Jan. 13.

Williams was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 21.1 after being assessed a match penalty. He missed Hershey’s game vs. Lehigh Valley on Jan. 14, and will also miss Hershey’s Wednesday (Jan. 17) at Springfield and Saturday (Jan. 20) vs. Lehigh Valley.”
