Player-Decorated Holiday Ornaments a Hit in Hershey

‘Tis the season in Hershey, and on Saturday the Bears’ Wives & Girlfriends continued their annual tradition of selling player-decorated ornaments for charity.  This year, offerings included custom ornaments by over two-dozen players, as well as a team-signed wreath and a tree decked out with a full set of glass balls – each with a separate player signature.

The entire team signed this wreath, which brought in $100 for Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

Thanks to the generosity of Hershey’s fans, they raised $3500 in total for the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.  The biggest items were the wreath ($100) and tree ($60), but some of the snazzier ornaments went for well over a hundred dollars.  Captain Boyd Kane (ornament pictured above, $270), Goaltender Braden Holtby (ornament below, $120), and Alternate Captain Ryan Potulny ($110) topped the list.

The next big project the Wives & Girlfriends will be doing is the annual Grab-a-Puck bags (last year’s sold out in 13 minutes!).  Those were sold in mid-February in 2012, though the specific game in 2013 has not been confirmed yet.

Below, you’ll find a few more examples of the fine craftsmanship that the Hershey Bears are capable of when they put their minds to it…
