Remembering John Kordic

It was 18 years ago this past Sunday when former Washington Capitals tough guy John “Rambo” Kordic passed away at the age of 27 from a drug overdose. He only played seven games for the Capitals, but acquired a staggering 101 penalty minutes in those games, which averages out to almost 15 a game. Or, during the course of an 80 game season, 1154. New Acela Club Restaurant Row Ledge Seating

We just received notice (as I’m sure all season ticket holders did) that the Capitals will be offering a new seating option this season. They are remodeling the Acela Club to offer additional season ticket options. The text from the e-mail is after the jump :

Leap Towards A Cure a Success!

A few weeks ago this very blog promoted a charity hockey tournament I helped put together, Leap Towards A Cure. Thanks to the support of the metropolitan DC hockey community, a bevy of small business sponsors, and volunteers like Ben from Capitals Outsider, who put in a few hours scorekeeping and picked the raffle winners, the tournament was a success and we raised almost $9,000 toward cancer diagnosis, treatment, and research at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.
